Linen

Linen

i've been coming across a lot of great linen wear lately, and while i don't actually own anything made from linen myself it might be time to invest in some key pieces. strangely enough these are all coming out of Lithuania (must be a linen hotspot?).

Imaginary Curator: Juno

Imaginary Curator: Juno

you probably know all about Juno, the NASA space probe that successfully entered Jupiter's orbit today. if you don't know about it then just google Juno. or, in fact, just look at today's Google doodle.

Kids ❤️ Animals

Kids ❤️ Animals

one thing i'm really excited about is introducing Axel to animals. i mean, right now he can barely recognise my face let alone appreciate how cute a kitten is – but before we know it he'll be picking out his first puppy… and it's highly possible i might be more excited than him when that day [...]

Pieter Hugo: 1994

Pieter Hugo: 1994

if you think you aren't familiar with the work of South African photographic artist Pieter Hugo, you will most certainly recognise his iconic series The Hyena Men. and if not, then his latest exhibition 1994 is a great introduction to his work. 1994 comprises portraits of children born after 1994 in two countries, South Africa [...

The Durrells

The Durrells

so i'm at home nursing a baby pretty much 24/7, which means i have a lot of time to read and watch tv while i do so (some of the weird perks of having a newborn?). to my DELIGHT i was told about a new show based on Gerald Durrell's famous chronicles of his family's years on Corfu.

Welcome Axel

Welcome Axel

we welcomed our son Axel Anton Visser on Tuesday 10 May. he wasn't breathing on his own when he arrived and had to be transferred to a specialised NICU at a hospital across town where he stayed for a week. needless to say it was a harrowing time for us.

Kirsten Sims: You Are Here

Kirsten Sims: You Are Here

right now i'm just over 36 weeks pregnant and consequently not getting out of the house much. but i do browse Instagram – a lot. when i'm wide awake at 2am, when i'm lying on the couch with my swollen feet propped up on a pillow, when i'm in the bath wondering how i'm going to [...

Badass Rings

Badass Rings

lately i've been noticing some seriously cool badass rings around. the trend in the past few years has been towards fine, dainty jewellery – especially stacking rings (which i still and will always love). but recently i've been really drawn to the more chunky variety, maybe it's because my fingers are so FAT now.

we won't be doing a nursery initially, as the kiddo is just going to sleep in our room for the first few months. we would only just have moved into our new house by the time he arrives, so i'd want to figure out the space before settling on who sleeps where (needless to say he will be [...]

Pins by Marianne Batlle

Pins by Marianne Batlle

i’ve been marvelling at these beaded pins by French artist Marianne Batlle, not just because of how painstakingly detailed they are – but also the fact that you can actually recognise all the famous characters. how many can you identify?

Sabé Masson

i love the idea of solid perfume, mostly because i like having something in my bag that i can reapply during the day without accidentally spritzing some stranger in the face. that's why i always have this with me - but i think it's time to find something more substantially fragranced....

Hómini

Hómini

Hómini is a jewellery line designed by two architect-trained sisters, Deborah & Dinorah Kaiser, who live in Montevideo, Uruguay. i love this lookbook so much because it reminds me of Tom & Jerry, or even this scene from Alice in Wonderland. a pretty surreal setting for such refined, minimalist jewellery. Hómini Studio was founded out [...]

most of my “time-wasting” surfing activities (i.e. browsing Pinterest while in bed, on the couch, in the bath, on the bus…) revolves around our new house. searching for inspiration for kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms… nurseries. it’s all pie in the sky kind of browsing for the moment, but isn’t it always like that on Pinterest? anyway a lot [...]

Iittala X Issey Miyake

iittala issey miyake collaboration

Stockholm Design Week just started with new products being launched around the clock all over the city, and I'll show you some favourites tomorrow. Right now I want to show the campaign for Issey Miyake's collaboration with Iittala, as it stands out a bit from the crowd with its poetic video and images. They also created the hashtag #PauseForHarmony, where you are encouraged to share your own images of harmony, and it has already turned into a beautiful collection on insta.

Bright New Swedish Beach House

Swedish Beachhouse leather sofa

Swedish Beachhouse

Newly built houses usually lack the personality and atmosphere that comes for free with an older building, they miss the nooks and crannies and the charm that comes with age and patina. While many feel new homes make up for this with their perfect shiny surfaces and practicality, I usually prefer houses where generations have lived before me. Not the case here though. It might have something to do with the amazing sunset light warming the images, but I believe there is more to it. The styling here is great, with a perfect and credible mix of new and vintage items, making it look like an actual person lives here. The architecture with all its wooden details seem to flirt with both 50's and functionalist style, paired with a healthy dose of modernity. The result: this house looks totally liveable, almost lived in actually.

See more at Wrede where this house is for sale right now.

last week Anton and i got sucked in, deep, to the classic 1989 western mini-series Lonesome Dove. it got to the point where i was texting him during the day saying "don't watch LD without me!" even though my husband is partial to the occasional cowboy film, we were both oblivious to its existence. which is why it was such [...]
