Bea Szenfeld’s Wrinkly Christmas Wrap

Bea-Szenfelds-julklappspapper

Bea-Szenfelds-julklappspapper

Swedish designer and paper artist Bea Szenfeld created this year’s coolest wrapping paper, with a pattern that looks like wrinkled paper. It is meant as an homage to the frugal people who like to reuse wrapping paper from old presents, and a comment on the fact that Swedes throw away the shocking amount of 200 000 kg of christmas gift wrap every year.

To cover your presents with this, you can either shop at Gallerian in Stockholm and get everything wrapped for free, or buy separate sheets at the same place, where all proceeds from the sales go to Save the Children.

Art for Humanity – Buy Photo Prints to Help the Refugees on Lesbos

Viola by Pia Ulin

The refugee crisis where people are fleeing the Middle East and other war-torn areas continues and still needs our support and attention. Some of Sweden’s best artists and photographers have donated their art and are selling it through Art for Humanity, where 100% of the proceeds go directly to support some of the amazing volunteer initiatives like Lighthouse and Rayyan The Volunteer Cook on the Greek island of Lesbos where many refugees come ashore from Turkey on their route to find safety in Europe. You will find one off art prints by Pia Ulin, Bobo Olsson, Jesper Brandt, Benjamin Vnuk, Andreas Lundberg and many more, in many different styles to suit your taste. So if you are looking for original photo prints and illustrations for your home and want to support a good cause at the same time, this is the place to go!

Our Holiday Season

Our Holiday Season

at this time of year i am met with imagery of “The Holidays” everywhere online – snowy winter scapes, white dusted christmas trees, mulled wine, fireplaces and simply every possible variation of a typical holiday season. you see it in articles in your Facebook timeline and in the holiday gift guides that pop up on your Pinterest feed. i always end up thinking to myself...

Toned Down Christmas Apartment

toned down christmas table decor

This is Christmas decor done right, in my book. Simple and natural, quite understated and not too much bling, more graphic with a few green elements. Wrapping presents in last year’s Stendig calendar has become a classic with the design minded crowd, and it looks great.

Steijvers LED Strips

Steijvers LED Strips

2016

2016

oh man, it’s that time of year again! lunar calendars are really big like year. like, huge. as big as a super moon perhaps. what i would really like is a calendar based on the Japanese seasons, after reading this article that a friend sent to me. Japan has 72 microseasons, with names like “rotten grass becomes fireflies” and “hens start laying...

White and Bright by Alexander White

Bright and airy 48 square meters with high ceilings and an inviting mix of furniture, in extremely well made 3D renderings from Alexander White. It’s becoming harder and and harder to tell real photos from renderings, don’t you think?

Mi Goals

Mi Goals

Beauty Talk

Beauty Talk

lizard analogy explained below since pregnancy my complexion has adopted what i’d like to call “lizard skin”. nobody talks about lizard skin, they only talk about that that glow that all pregnant women seem to bask under. not me, my skin went from kinda okay and normal to dry and red, yet also hormonal – seemingly overnight. i’ve never suffered from dry...

Andrea Maack Perfumes, and Read These Blogs Instead

Andrea Maack Perfumes

I’m in Greece at the moment, volunteering at the Macedonian border, which is closed for most nationalities meaning lots of people are stuck here in the rain. This means updating the blog is not my top priority, so instead I will direct you to some other blog posts that I think you shouldn’t miss! First out is this post by Elv’s, about my favourite perfumist, Icelandic Andrea Maack and the launch of her new unisex collection.

”The assignment was to turn an old embassy in Stockholm into a private apartment.

Three walls were taken down to create one large room of 85 square meters with a bit of a gallery feel. This room includes kitchen, dining and living area.

A gray scale with materials like concrete, valchromat and brushed steel are recurring throughout the apartment. In contrast to this, three brass cubes were built that all serve a unique function;
a kitchen island, a closet and a coffee table.”

Hasami Porcelain

hasami porcelain tea pot

Swedish brand TypeO, previously best known for their art prints, just started a new chapter of their entrepreneurship. Their plan is to, besides their own designs, create a place for brands and products beyond the mass produced stuff that all other web shops are already offering.

”We are convinced that Scandinavia is hungry for designs that are unique, small scale and sustainable. Not necessarily organic, but with a thought of timelessness, manufactured through tried and tested techniques in materials that are made to last.”

Their first step is to present a collection of tableware, designed in California and produced in the ancient Japanese Hasami porcelain district. The stackable crockery was launched in 2014 and is the choice of Monocle coffeeshops all over the world.

I fell for the design which is both minimalist and rustic at the same time, and the practicality of everything being so neatly stackable.

Rent A Vermont Farmhouse For This View

The last weekend of 2012 we did our first overnight trip with Frances to Vermont. We were invited to stay at a beautiful farmhouse in Waterbury, Vermont. The trip was just over 3 hours from Massachusetts and a safe distance to practice our new parenting skills.

Kids Things

Kids Things

i was conflicted about doing this post because the one thing i feel weird about is “designing” your kid’s life, or creating a remotely instagrammeable lifestyle for your kid. on the other hand i think some kids things are pretty sweet, and i find myself straying into kidswear departments pretty often now that we are expecting one. we are already receiving...

5 Bold Bathroom Tile Floors

I am obsessed with remodeling kitchens and baths! I think it is because I love seeing great tile and stone installed and the notion that those surfaces are quite permanent. If I had my choice on house, I would have one with 3 kitchens and 7 baths…I would design each of these rooms differently and... Read More

The New Tsatsas Atelier

A fresh start to the week with this clean and minimalist space. Tsatsas Atelier in Frankfurt, Germany.

”TSATSAS means clarity and quality. With regard to design, the materials used, and the way they are treated. A particular approach to luxury is something immediately noticeable, something that can be felt straight away. These bags and accessories take time – to design, to manufacture and to develop.

The atelier where all TSATSAS fine leather goods are produced can look back over a tradition in leathercraft that stretches back 30 years. The genesis of each model is allowed to take up as much time as required to create a leather product by hand with precision and care.”
